For those of us who love reading in English, Israel can sometimes be a challenge. The regular bookstore chains here don’t have much of a selection of English books. That’s why we compiled this list of English second-hand bookstores with thousands of titles and phenomenal prices!

Tel Aviv

Halper’s

This magnificent bookstore is located right on Tel Aviv’s busy Allenby Street. Halper’s, founded by American-born Yosef in 1991, now holds about 60,000 different books for sale, in English and Hebrew as well as several additional languages.

Little Prince Bookstore and Café

The Little Prince is a great spot to both read a good book and get a good coffee. The atmosphere is similar to that of a library – take out a book, find a cozy place to sit, and read quietly. Except here you may also order some pasta or a salad to enjoy while you read!

Jerusalem

Sefer V’Sefel

In Hebrew the name of the store means: “Book and Mug,” a reference to the coffee or tea that used to be served to customers while they browsed. You will no longer get a mug, however the service is still very friendly and there are some amazing old and new English books here.
